Can ginger be grown as an intercrop in orange(mandarin) plantation?
If so, for how many years can ginger be grown as an intercrop?
At what distance should orange tress be planted for us to grow ginger for as many years as possible?

We have a land with light soil and year round irrigation facilities.

hi

Yes ginger can be grown as intercrop in orange plantation but continous growing of ginger on same land is not recommended. Ginger will take 6-8 months for production of rhizomes. Therefore crop rotation should be followed. In normal cultivation, spacing of 6 x 6 m is required for orange plantation. Besides ginger Intercrops viz. pea, cowpea and gram can be taken in mandarin orchards.
