Hi,

We would like to start Gerbera cultivation near Shimoga, Can you please assist me on the same. I need the information like, Flower market near Shimoga, environment needed for the cultivation and the pre-requisites needed for the same.

Dear sir,
Gerbera demands 16 to 18 degrre celcious so it can be done with poly house or some cases it can be with shade house, shimoga is considered very good climate most of these flowrs get good price in delhi and mumbai bangalore also as lot of cultivation around bangalore is there. cost of poly house ranges from Rs.70 to 700/sq feet.

for details pls visit some farms even subsidy is also provided visit horticulture department.

Gerbera is best grown in well drained peaty soil, and cool climate. However, it is best grown in nethouse, and this can be done anywhere. The price of a plant in the market is around rs 25, and it fetches Rs4-6 per flower stock. I can provide you further details such as source of plants, cultivation practises and market information.
