Flowers for fruiting

I am curious if anyone would be able to confirm that growing flower plants around fruiting (mango, moringa, watermelon) crops helps with pollination and subsequently in increasing fruit yield.

If the above hypothesis may be true, what type of flower plants can be grown well in dry, hot and laterite soil?
