Sir , following fresh water fish breeds seeds are getting ready in out hatchery
ROHU ( Labeo Rohita ) , BHAKUR ( Catla Catla ) , MRIGAL CARP (Cirrhinus cirrhosus ) NILE TILAPIA ( Oreochromis Niloticus ) ,PANGASIUS ( Pangasius ) MAGUR ( Clarias Batrachus ) MURREL ( Channa Striata ) ,CHITAL ( Chitala chitala ) , PABDA CATFISH ( Callichrus pabda ) CHINESE POMFRET ( Pampus chinensis ) , CLIMBING PERCH ( Anabas testudineus )
Rate are different for spawn ( 4-6 mm ) and seed ( 1 -2 inch )
Mixed seed rate starts with Rs 400/ 1000 nos .
Specific breed rate varies from Rs 3-6 K / 1000 nos.
Oxygen gas filled 6.5 - 7.0 kgs tin container packing .
Air shipment charge Rs 5-6K / 100 kgs .

There are several trains from Howrah to Madurai station , travel time is approx 36 to 42 hrs ,
Howrah to Madurai parcel charge is Rs 500 per container ( 3000 mixed fish seed )
Internal transport charge from Hatchery to Howrah station - Rs 1000
NOTE : If the train is running late then there is problem , as the oxygen gas is sufficient for 36 hrs survival of the seed .
There are 3 regular flights from Kolkata to Madurai ( Indigo, Air India , Spice jet ) charges are more of less same for all airlines :
Min weight accepted : 100 kgs
Freight charge : Rs 5000/ 100 kgs
Per container mixed fish seed qty : 3000 nos.
Gross weight per container : 6.5-8.5 kgs
Internal transport charge from hatchery to Kolkata airport : Rs. 1500

can you please give a breakup of cost and expediture for sending 100kgs. of live snakehead fish to Madurai by flight. I wish to invite your remembrance for a similar request in another Chat.
Today's wholesale fish market rate : ( Howrah , WB )
Species : Murrel ( Shol )
( weighing 800-1 kg ) : Rs 170 / kg
( weighing 1 kg to less than 2 kg ) : Rs 220 / kg
( weighing above 2 kg - 2.5 kg ) : Rs 270 / kg
Insulated Thermocol ice box ( 25 lts ) Retail price : Rs 450 -500 each .
10-12 kgs of Murrel fish can be packed in each box
Each box requires 10-12 kgs of ice : Rs. 70
Internal transportation charge : Rs 1500 per trip
Howrah station unloading -loading by Rly coolie with trolley : Rs. 100 each box
Rly. freight charge ( Howrah to Madurai ) : Rs 700 each box ( incl GST )
NOTE : Consignee GST is mandatory for booking bulk parcel . Airlines doesn't accept bulky ice packed cold fish box parcels , due to fishy odour and fear of damage during rough handling at airports .

here in madurai shol fish can be sold above Rs. 350/- per kg.
If we could procure and keep them in stock for a few days we can sell them for a profit.
But the obvious problem is that we must receive them here alive.
We shall keep in touch while looking for the possibilities of transporting them alive to Madurai.
