Hi,
I am pushkin. I have three Holstein friesian cows, which were milking 19ltrs per day. One of the cow got infection decease,which the milk gets from one of the teats become too fatty and the total milk become like curd.Since last two months, the problem continues. When the vet.Doctor examined and gave antibiotics medicines, the next ten days the milk is as usual. After the effect of the medicine goes, the problem still remain. I am from kerala. The milk examined in the Vettinary college in mannuthy. They gave the result, mentioned that multipple infection affected to the cows. My cattle shed is very clean and neat. Only one person is lookafter these cows. From were the infection attacked? What I have to do to normalise the cows? Please give the valuble advises.

This cow has 5th month after calving and now gets only 12ltrs/day.

What sivasenapathy said is pretty much true, and this is due to lack of miliking management.

A very simple solution for all udder related issue is hygine, follow these simple practices there can never another udder issue apart from any gentic issue.

1. Cleanse the udder throughly before miliking best would be to clean with potassium permanganate.
2. It good that the labour is thoroughly cleanse before miliking or best is to use the miliking machine which gives a single tone pressure to the udder always unlike manually. It also has potentially increased the yield in many cows.
3. This is the thumb rule. after milking a cow the teat pores are and will remain open for a minium of 10-20 mins, so if the cows sits immediately after miliking all the germs and parasite will enter the teats instantly causing issues. Hence feed the cow with green fodder or any other fodder for another 20 mins ensuring the cow does not sit down hence it will be saved from all udder issues, this is something many sucessful farms follow and what we educate a lot of farmers. We can also ensure that we clean the cow with the same potassium permanganate which is more better way ensure the udder is not infected.
