sir,
I am from the hill state of Himachal Pradesh and into apple farming.I am looking forward for starting
a dairy farm as a second source of income. It would also be beneficial to my orchard as manure is the best
nutrient for the trees.I am looking for four Holstein Friesian Cows (1st lactation )with yield of milk more than 35-40kg per cow.As i am from hill area where
the temperature in winters is quite low(approx-2 or 3 degree cent) but summers are pleasant (around 30-35
degrees).Would it effect the productivity of milk as well as cows.moreover what other things should be considered.I would also like to know about the rate per cow in their first lactation yield of milk and what amount of milk will it give here (and what it usually gives there).I shall be grateful if you kindly send me detailed information (like investment ,taking care etc)and if possible quotes for
4 cows and also how shall i move forward in setting dairy farm and how can you help me out .my email id is
and what are the dairy farms in himachal.punjab, chandigarh and haryana from where i can buy them.

Dear Yogi,
Before informing about dairy, it will be just and necessary to know about your profile.

What is the total extent of the land owning at present?
How is the demand for milk in your village?
Any nearest village/town/commercial establishment etc is located?
Can you dedicate you
rself towards dairy activity?

If you knows all these, than your success in dairy farm will be decided.
As you mentioned, you can get more help from dairy for other agriculture activities in terms of manure, gobar energy, slurry etc.

Cattle can be sourced in your nearest place and other states like Punjab and Haryana too at mro or less to 60k.
Regards,
SWAMY
