cost cutting in sugar industry, an idea for a revisit

Hello,

To reduce the cost of time, labour and diesel on transport, the sugar factories should start collecting sugarcane juice from farms after a cut-off radial distance of their command area9 to collect canes to run their cogen plants).

This would save diesel on transport, assure better price of cane juice, provide organic manure to farm, good fodder to milch animals, biogas plants, small power plants in villages.

The problem of decomposition of sucrose can be addressed by nitrogen/oil-filming of the juice tankers.

This was suggested to the director, national institute of sugar, Kanpur, but no response as yet.

Can anybody move this idea to its logical end?
