casurina or savukku plantation

Hi,

I am planning to plant for casurina (farmforest) cultivation in 10 Acre land in tamilnadu( got good water resource) at Tirunelveli dt . I will be pleased if i get some information on this.

1) How should i plant ( distnace between the plants)
2) which type of plant is profitable, people are saying indonesia hybrid plant is very profitable.
3) Where can i get the plants in huge quantity
4) what is the over all growth per tree after 4 years.
5) what will be the profit of 1 acre after 4 years.
6) what is the cost of casurina per ton
7) what is the approximate weight of one tree after 4 years.
8) Is there any disadvantage of going this plant.
9) any legal issues.
10) Over all comment on this project.
11) Where can i market the harvested Casurina whith in the Tirunelveli dt
12) Is there any succesful project which have intercrope with casurina
13) Is there any subsidy from govt for drip irrigation..

Casurina

1)At initial planting at least 4 feet from each other
2)The hybrid saplings cost more - but the local onnes too are almost equally good with proper maintenance
3)Source it locally
4)After 2 years trim the undershoots (brances) in four years it shoud reach about 12'
6)Check locally - price varies - it should go up only with rising prices & demand
7)Depends - it is commercially viable to be cut onlyy after 6 years
8)It becomes a forest - moreover after cutting and uprooting the trunk the ground is devoid of nutrients & takes atleast another 5 years to recuperate and be fit for regular cutivation - though you could replant trees saplings with filling in manure into the pit
9)No - take care to keep it free from wild pests - Jacals etc are common
10)Good initiative - though it is labour intensive at planting , trimming & cutting , uprooting time
