Buying Agriculture Land

1. My dad had inherited agriculture land from his father(my grandfather) but he had sold that 10-15 years ago. Now he is retired and his pension is 25K per month, will he be able to buy agriculture land now based on the document he showing he had earlier owned agri land ? Please suggest, if there is any workaround.

Yes, you can!

In Maharashtra, after 12 years, if any one wants to become a farmer again, he can make an application to the Collector/SDO with the old documents. They may allow him with a fine/penality. Consult a lawyer in Karnataka and he can prepare an application on your behalf with all legal formalities.

That is precisely why I am asking you to consult a competent lawyer. These laws are old and the income from other sources should not exceed Rs.12,000/- as per Maharashtra Act. But that is applicable to a non-farmer. I am advising you to get the permission on the basis of your father's ex-holding. Simply put, continuation of the farmer's status with a fine/penalty.
