Hello, intercropping in banana depends on the type of soil and method of irrigation that would be adopted for banana. If you are adopting flood irrigation system then short duration crops whcih can withstand high moisture regime need to be selected. If you are adopting drip system of irrigation crops like onion, brinjal, bhendi, or flower crops like marygold can be grown. Growing marygold will also minimize the incidence of nematodes in banana. secondly it the soils are clay type/sticky managing intercrop together wirh irrigation would pose certain problems that has to managed by selecting suitable intercrop local importance.
