Invitation to Aquaponics Workshop
Dear Friend,
Aquaponics is the combination of fish and plant production using aquaculture and hydroponics systems. It is moving from the realm of experimental to commercial. Learn more about this production system and if it might be right for your backyard garden or farming operation.
We are happy to inform you that we are organizing a One-day workshop on the above subject on 20th November (Wednesday) of 2013 at the Integrated Rural Technology Centre (IRTC campus), Mundur, Palakkad, Kerala. The details are as follows:
01. Topics :
Introducing Aquaponics
Biology – pond dynamics, types of fish, types of plants, seedling production, fish culture techniques, plant nutrients, feeding, disease and insect control
Physics – components, design of fish pond, grow beds, cost-effective construction techniques, plumbing guidelines, aerator sizing, siphon operations
Chemistry – water chemistry and quality testing, nitrification cycle
Mathematics – important ratios, stocking rates, economics, budgeting, cost/benefit analysis
Many other topics - harvesting, marketing, etc.
02. Duration : One day (20th November, 2013) – Wednesday; 10 AM-4 PM
03. Medium of instruction: Malayalam/English. Q&A: Hindi/Tamil as well.
04. No. of participants: 50 nos. (First come – First serve)

10. Time of departure: Participants will be free to leave the place on 20th November at 4.30 p.m.
