Dear All,
I am about to pursue my MBA starting this july. My long term goal is to become an agro entrpreneur. So i have two main questions for you all:
Q.1) Will working in an AGRO company help me in attaining my goal.? If so to what extent?Considering this,shall i look for a job in Agro Company post my MBA?

Q.2) Since i am a beginner what all reading material(any specific agro journals/magzines) should i take up for reading on regular basis in order to understand the technicalities involved in AGRI BUSINESS and thereby acquaint myself with them?

Hello

1.You can work in an agro company after ur MBA but depends on what subject you take. If you are taking up marketing then you may not get any idea about the technical aspects. Only through your personal interest you can learn things during free hours. It would be better you take up some diploma course in agriculture and horticulture which is a short term course, so that you will get the basic idea about farming. You can also read lots of agricultural magzines, books and HAnd book of agriculture and horticulture depending upon your interest in crop.

What is your opinion on my following project?
PROPERTY AT DEHEN

1. I own a small, hilly, laterite land admeasuring 7.5 acres at post Dehen, Tal. Dapoli, Dist. Ratnagiri of Konkan region in Maharashtra. Dehen is a small village, 28 km. from Mandangad ( A taluka place),on Mandangad-Anjarle Road and 20 km. from Dapoli (Nearest Taluka place).
2. There are 100, 5 yrs. old mango plants & 25 fruiting cashew nut plants.
3. My interest is to grow Rudraksha (Elaeocarpus ganitrus) varieties (Total 350 all over the world known in Australia as Blue Berry Ash/Quandong etc.)
4. The project includes development of a "Nakshatravan" as well.
5. The land has a kuccha well admeasuring 25 feet in diameter, kuccha approach road admeasuring 1100 ft.in length & 15 ft. in breadth,10 HP power connection & a pucca house admesuring 450 sq. ft. with three rooms & veranda.
6. The entire land is not fenced, saucer shaped ,bottom height 80 M above sea level, peripheral height(rim) 105 M above sea level with a gradient of about 30 degree.
7. Konkan season is heavy rains in monsoon(4 months) followed by scarcity of water for 8 months, very hot & humid in summer(sea shore at 8 km.).

As your interest is welcome and have an idea about agricuture, read leading agro journals which are published from Agricultural universities and research stations, surfing agro websites and agri diploma courses will be good enough for get an idea. After this, as your interested area of agriculture portion you can work with a company and have some experience minimum 9-18 months then can go for self employment.

Dear sir,

Agriculture is wast and longterm business atleast we can imagine world without petrol but not with out agriculture, so far agriculture was the job of uneducated man but statement taken reverse turn lot MBA and even IIT and IIMs are showing there intrest in agriculture so u can defenetly look yr carrer in agricultre, wiht respect to information collection seaing is beliving keep visiting success full fields in yr area and Agriculture industry survey, floriculture to day,Horticulture tech and so many magzine in market pls go through it.
