i would like to start nursery of aquilaria agallocha roxb .where i can get the seeds,at which season, and the prices /kg. of seeds and also i want to know how many seeds will become one kg.

I am interested in cultivating all the 360 species of genus Elaeocarpus belonging to family elaeocarpaceae known in various parts of the world as Rudraksha(Asia),Blue Berry Ash(Australia & Newzealand),Silver Quandong (US & Europe), Blue Marble tree etc. I am particularly interested in the species Elaeocarpus ganitrus Roxb. for religious reasons. Can you supply the seeds of all these species, at least those found in your locality?Kind attention Mr Shantaraman
Aquilaria malaccensis syn Aquilaria agallocha found in Northeast India(Arunachal Pradesh,Assam,Manipur,Mizoram,Nagaland &Tripura) bears fruits in its 4-5th year and these fruits fall under tree(sept-oct) , germinate and become seedlings. The seeds,if collected are short viable(4-5 days) and hence seeds are not used for raising seedlings. The two leaves seedlings are collected from the beneath of mature trees and planted in 6 inch polybags. It will take 6 months to grow in polybag to attain a size of 18 inches or 45 cm or so.High expenses are involved in collecting small seedlings from deep forest & in nurturing them for 6 months or so. If you plant these 45 cm long seedling directly in open field, they will grow to 1.5 metres in 6 months. You are saving money by planting already grown up seedlings. The price of seedlings what you are paying is nothing comparable to the income you will get from mature trees. Please ask any nurseryman having experience in agarwood tree seedlings.
Compare the cost of an idly plate in an udipi hotel to the cost of an agarwood tree seedling.
When there is huge income in agarwood tree cultivation(No one believes me),then you are trying to start agarwood tree nursery from seeds which is not practicable.
You can contact me and I can help you as you do not want to pay so much for agarwood tree seedlings.
1 kg agarwood tree seeds will contain approx. 2000 seeds.
