Hello

Are you speaking about oil palm?? Yes you can cultivate oil palm. The oil palm is a perennial crop with long-lasting yields, because its productive life can last longer than 50 years; however after 25 years harvesting becomes difficult due to the height of the stalk.

Processing of the oil palm's fruits is done at the oil mill or extracting plant. That is where the process of extracting crude oil from the palm and from the palm kernel is carried out. Because of its physical composition, palm oil can be used in diverse preparations without the need for hydrogenation, a process in which trans fats, which are undesirable fatty acids that cause illnesses such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease among others, are formed.

It is currently the world's second most highly consumed oil and is used for making bread, pastry, candy, ice cream, instant soups, sauces, diverse frozen and dehydrated foods as well as nondairy creamers for use with coffee.

Palm oil and palm kernel oil are also used specifically for the manufacture of oleochemical products such as fatty acids, fatty esters, fatty alcohols and nitrogen fat and glycerol compounds, which are essential elements for making soaps, detergents, lubricants for paint, varnishes, gums and ink.

It has recently come to be used as biofuel. Biodiesel is now a new alternative for the use of palm oil as a raw material for other products.

Hello Sir

Oil palm is one of of the most important crop specially in the tropical areas and where the temperature meets humidity.

Oil palm comes in almost all types of soils, well-drained deep loamy alluvial soil, rich in organic matter with adequate water holding capacity is the most suitable medium for oil palm cultivation.

Oil palm starts bearing from 4th year onwards and its economic life varies from 25 to 30 years.

Each palm may produce 5-12 bunches per year, each having around 2000 fruits.

A mature plantation (8 to 9 years old), yield of 15-18 tonnes of fresh fruit bunches (FFBs) per hectare is expected.

As with other tree crops, the oil palm provides year-round ground cover which protects
the soil from erosion.
• Well managed oil palms sequester more carbon (C) per unit area than tropical rainforests, and oil palm estates are predicted to become an important part of C offset management in the next century.
• About 25 percent of the harvested biomass may be returned to the field as a nutrient rich mulch, providing opportunities for growers to recycle nutrients and biomass from more fertile to less fertile parts of the estate.
The bunches lie close to the ground so need protection from animals like dogs, cats, rats.
The fruit ferments after harvesting within 48hrs so needs fast transport and processing or the oil quality deteriotes.
