Have you used organic plant growth promoters on your farm? Did you find yield /growth improvements in your crops?

Share your experiences and ask questions to Mr Siddharth Natarajan, whose Mumbai based company wiNaturals supplies organic growth promoters in India under the brand name 'ProGro'.

Dear Siddharth,

What are the advantages farmers can expect after using Organic Plant Growth Promoter at their farms?

Shweta

Humic and Fulvic acids

Hi Shweta,

We are well aware of the cons caused to the farmland due to excess use of fertilizers and pesticides for the past few decades.
Now, coming to the question, despite being completely organic, one who uses these plant growth promoters in the form of HUMIC ACIDS can expect an increase in yield of 15-20% along with improved resistance from pests and insects. The fertilizer usage can be reduced to 25% every year, which eventually, at the end of 4-5 years, the land would automatically be converted to an organic farmland.

Dear Siddharth,

You company manufacturers and supplies 'Progro' the organic plant growth promoter. Tell us more about it with respect to its composition and its specific benefits which farmers could be assured off?

Regards,
Shweta

I hope the following details answers most of your questions,

How does it condition the soil?
Builds up substantial HUMUS content in agricultural soil
Brings about an overall improvement in soil workability
High Cation exchange capacity improves nutrient uptake
Leaching Loss of nutrients is reduced substantially
Ensures supply of balanced micronutrients to the crop
Presence of Fulvic Acid ensures fuller, faster germination and speedier, healthier growth.

How does it affect the soil health?
Visible improvement in Soil Porosity & Water Holding Capacity
Substantial reduction in chemical fertilizer requirement
Helps in the growth of Soil Beneficial Micro Organism
Helps building up population of Earthworms
Improves Soil Aeration substantially
Improved root respiration helps in improving overall crop health

Any other special features?
Progro G is a natural extraction from Leonardite – the richest source of Humic Acids
Progro G has no Phytotoxity and is absolutely safe to all Flora, Fauna and even Humans
Progro G is Ready to Use Humus Concentrate and hence there is no time lag for decomposition as in the case of any other Organic Manure available in the market
Progro G application does not involve any exothermic reaction generating heat during decomposition as in the case of conventional organic manures and hence the root zone of the crops is not damaged
Progro G is required in small quantities and hence application time and cost is reduced
Progro G is not made from city garbage and hence does not contain even a single element of impurity such as plastic/polymer/glass/metal particles or Insect eggs, larvae, weed seeds, fungal spores

Progro G is an ideal replacement for Farm Yard Manures/Oil cakes & other conventional manures
Progro G is economically much cheaper – per acre costwise – compared to all other conventional organic manures including Farm Yard Manure available in the market.

We also manufacture a couple of other products viz., Provic 5000XP and Progro Z,
These are fulvic and humic acids respectively available in liquid forms. A detailed study in majority of the portions of India has revealed that the soil is zinc deficient and that prompted us to introduce Progro Z(inc) which corrects the deficiency to a great extent. Provic 5000XP is fulvic acid which aids in the transportation of nutrients from the soil to the plants effectively thereby results in better germination.

The products used for agricultural applications viz Progro G, Provic 5000 XP and Progro (Z) are approved for organic agriculture and certified by Apeda accredited institute under the NPOP programme - Indian Society for the Certification of Organic products (ISCOP) and it is for the first time that any Humic Acid preparation in the country is certified Organic.

Hey,
I have used ProGro on my Kitchen Garden, which comprises of flowers and some home grown vegetables. The results i obtained were pretty astonishing. More number of flowers bloom now, and the quantity of vegetables has increased too....from one or two in the earlier stages, to a good number now.
Keep up the good work!!

Dear Siddharth,

These days’ farmers and horticulturist are more inclined towards organic agricultural inputs like plants growth promoters and fertilizer etc and prefer it over chemical fertilizer. However, due to high price farmers are unable to make the purchase. Your comments, please?

Shweta

Fortunately, farmers now are beginning to understand the harmful effects of chemicals they have been continuously treating their fields with all these years. For a farmer, ORGANIC somehow relates to Farm Yard Manure. Now if we compare, the ideal dosage of FYM per acre is not advised to be less than 2-2.5 tons per acre. Earlier, every household used to have a few cows and their kind at their disposal. However, things are not the same anymore. Even if one takes Re.1/kg to purchase this FYM, transportation and application taken into account, it sums up to Rs.2/ kg. Application of FYM is now a costly affair which sums up to Rs. 4000- 5000 / acre (Approx.) The MRP of our granules i.e Progro G is Rs.160 and the prescribed dosage is 10kg/ acre. If we do the mathematics, the results show that what we supply is almost 1/3 the cost of FYM. All we hope is to change the stereotype mentality our farmers, and make them realize that Organic Farming is not an expensive affair afterall.

Hi Pooja,
We try our best to save the little profit we gain and invest them to buy chairs, tables, setting up a library etc. to the schools in some small villages we operate in. Last we set up a small library for the students of Kurinchi village, Salem district, Tamilnadu. I must admit that activities like these overwhelm us with joy and gives us an actual sense of achievement and pride. Our company is relatively new and CSR activities by WiNaturals, would definitely increase in the near future.
Hope that answers your question.

We have used Mix microbial to convert agriculture waste & Cow dung into organic fertilizer along with Neem cake.

We have yet to come up to such a conclusion as it has been a very short period that we started using Organic fertilizer.

As told by -

Organic plant promoters are 100 % useful. The plant survive in the forest get the nutrients in the organic way. The organic way of the nutrient is good for environment, soil health and the plants. The organic plants nutrient works on the principle of the principle of the Charls Darvinee of " Superiority" If you make the plant superior at the initial stage it will be always superior in the field....

The right time to to use Humic acids would be right after the field is tilled and ready to be sown. A basal dose is ideal wrt to our products. Nevertheless, our products could be used even after the seeds have been sowed. One would definitely see the results, but the same may vary depending on the time they have been used on the field. A 15-20% increase in yeild could be expected with healthier, chemical free crops at the end of the season.

winaturals..progroG

dear sirs/madam,we are using progroG for our spray rose garden situated near doddaballapur and found results are satisfactory.through you i want to put request to the mfrs,winayurals/progroG etc, to supply to organic/other true farmers directly with discounts possible so that the farmers can be benifited with less/reasonable prices and middle man can be deleted where ever possible.though it is giving good results we are using less quantities and if the price comes down in direct purchase ,farmers can be benifited much, around 25% in direct ordering.

Thanks for the suggestion Sir. However, it is very difficult for a company to penetrate through a market and find end users directly without the help of middle men. But we would be pleased if your good self could come up with an idea and help us achieve this difficult task. We are willing to reduce the price of the product provided middle men are eliminated. Kindly mail me at sn@winaturals.com, for further suggestions/queries.
Regards.

Dear Siddharth,

" Many Indian buyers have a mindset that all imported agri inputs be it organic manure, plant growth promoters or even the machinery are high in quality and cost effective" . What are your opinion on this statement?

Regards,
Shweta
