why banana ripening chambers?

What is the need for ripening chambers other than using non toxic ethylene gas?
I feel keeping fruits in r.chamber will fasten the ripening and decrease the shell life,even though it would be a uniform ripening.
Pls clarify how it will be beneficial to traders.

Ripening chamber can be used in case of very high produce. v can keep the babanas at various temperatures according to to the market.can adjust the temp accordingly and as such increse the shelf life. and uniformity in ripening is the first quality trait and it will definitely help the traders.
