Dairy farming

Hi,

It is a good idea to start the dairy farming business. Since you have the basic idea of dairy farming, I feel there is no need to explain about the risk involved in the business. For calulation of finance, shed type, gobar gas and other details, it is very much important to know your scale of operation. I mean the capacity of the farm.
After a critical limit say beyond 50 animals, the farm should be planned for the moderate mechanization, beyond 500 animals farm should be have a full fledged mechanization in terms of milking, feeding and farm cleaning. Accordingly the cost, type of shed will vary.
But on a rough scale the cost of HF cow will be Rs.35000 to 40000 and other capital expenditure (including shed, machineries, stores) Rs.25000 to 40000.
I am a dairy consultant based at Bangalore, if you need any information contact.....

Hi.
Do have a look for a Small Scale Dairy Farm Project Report as per NABARD guidelines which can be customized as per your needs i.e. you can change the number, milk yield & cost of animals, sale price of milk, bank loan rate, repayment period etc. and observe its impact on profitability in the spreadsheet.
Many other Projects are also being developed for progressive farmers. Do let me know if any changes have to be made in the program.
Regards,
