Statistical Analysis (M6 Jan 5-7, 2010 at BKSC, Jalna)
The course will provide a rapid introduction to basic statistical methods: computing descriptive statistics, hypothesis testing and analysis of variance. The course is designed to acquaint agri. researchers with the principles of experimental design, analysis of variance and regression, and correlation analysis. We intend to have a good balance of lecture, group exercises, and hands-on exercises.

The course will cover the following topics:
1. Introduction to fundamental concepts in statistical methods
2. Principles of experimental design & basic experimental designs
3. Analysis of variance and mean comparison
4. Partitioning sums of squares
5. Data transformation
6. Missing data
7. Regression and correlation

Trainees are expected to have some exposure to crop data & a background in breeding, genetics, and or plant biotechnology. Prior experience of using a “PC” (windows & spreadsheet) and basic understanding of statistics would be an added advantage.

The training fee is pegged at Rs. 5000 per head. This is exclusive of travel & stay costs. The Barwale Foundation can help trainees in securing accommodation in nearby hotels at reasonable rates.
