months it starts giving milk. Twinning is very common and triplets and
quadruplets are rare.

cow milk and it has anti-fungal and anti bacterial properties and can be
used for treating urogenital diseases of fungal origin.

*Goats are 2.5 times more economical than sheep on free range grazing
under semi arid conditions.

*Goat creates employment to the rural poor besides effectively utilizing
unpaid family labor. There is ample scope for establishing cottage industries
based on goat meat and milk products and value addition to skin and fiber.

*Goat is termed as walking refrigerator for the storage of milk and can be
milked number of times in a day.

Starting Goat Farm is fine, but where to get cost effective goat feed?

Hi,

We have around 7 acres of land near Bangalore and intend to start Goat rearing business. While we can grow fodder most of the year, but to get protein supplements like soya cakes etc is a big challenge as Bangalore is not a soya growing belt. Is there a way to get cost effective protein supplements which can be sourced as a low cost and transported to bangalore?

Your help in this regard will be highly appreciated.

Thank you

Start a Stall Feed

Dear Rao,

You have to grow Monocotyledons which comprises of Maize, Jawar, Hybrid Napier, Gunea Grass , Oats and Para grass. These fodders are rich in energy and are used for supplying energy to animals and this should contain 66% of the diet.

Secondly you have to also grow Dicotyledons like Stylo , Lucerne, Berseem and Subabul. These fodders are rich in protein and helps in Body building of animals and Milk Production.

you can give home made concentrated Feed mixed with Mineral Mixture for the Goats just before Mating season, Pregnant females, Lactation females and Breeding Bucks.

The concentrate you can get in the market at 14-15 Rs /kg.

Contact Mr Bosco of Siddion in Banglore and Give my reference, Mustafa from Shine Farms, Hyderabad.
