Spacing for coconut plantation

Dear all,

I have two acres of agricultural land in Anaikatti, on the western ghats and very close to Coimbatore, Tamilnadu. It is learnt that the soil is suitable for coconut plantation and there are a lot of coconut farms. Taking this advnatage of the soil and climatic conditions, I would also like to plant coconut. Regarding spacing, there is a lot of confusion since many people are having different opinions and it varies from 5 mtrs to 10 mtrs. Could you give me the specification for right spacing.

Spacing depends on the varierty of coconut you choose. Dwarf or tall variety.

Hi methilrajan,

Yesterday, I saw one person by the name Mr.Raja of Coimbatore talking in Makkal Tv on different coconut varieties and the distances between them. Since you are also in Coimbatore, I suggest you talk to him and find out the details. His contact is Nine Three Four Four Five Five Five Five Zero Five.

He also was talking about the inter-crops in his coconut farm and the next interview is happening on next Monday(20th Feb). The Timing of the program is 6:30 PM to 7:00 PM.

Please bear in mind nowadays the coconut farm is not suitable as the rate per coconut is very less due to excessive coconut farming. But if you are particulare about the coconut farm, please ensure you have inter-crops, which will give benefits on the profit side.
