Indian Sandalwood is best known in the world. Yes, it can be cultivated but requires time period of 30 years for harvest, that's why only few big companies are interested in this business who owns huge acerage of land and when you grow sandalwood, you cant' grow other crops with that as it absorbs nutrients from side plants. Though now Govt. is making an effort to promote it's cultivation amongst farmers. Australia is the main competitor taking advantage of the situation as their harvesting period is after 13 years.
