Mr. Ajay Panchal, Director, Milkwell Milking Systems says-

We should increase the role of government in Indian agriculture. Government should identify the area by the help of state governments’ efforts and has to educate the farmers for more mechanized agriculture and dairy.

Mr. G.A.Balakrishnan, Chairman, Bhoomi Naturals says-

It is a big question that cannot be answered in few words. Generally, I feel the government should encourage private sector to support farming in order to ensure remunerative returns to farmers.

The role of Government in Indian agriculture should be there since our country's economy depends mainly on agriculture. The rate of fertilizers, agro mechanical equipment used for agriculture etc. should be monitored.

I am from Maharashtra state. I am not satisfied about Indian Government. That is because they have formed rules for farmers that they should not use more land above 2 acre for developing under greenhouse and In Maharashtra, the Government has declared a 50% subsidy to this greenhouse project while the other states provide 65, 75, 85% subsidy for greenhouse.

Mr. Meezan Ahmed, Partner, Taj Farms says -

Frankly speaking I feel most of our resources are being exported rather than used for self-consumption. If the exports are reduced then people would not have to buy food which is produced in India and imported back to India at a costly price. The government plays an important role in our agriculture because it can make agriculture a boon for the economy and a downfall also.

Mr. Mukesh Gupta, Exec. Director, Morarka Foundation, Jaipur says-

Role of government should immediately change from controller to enabler. There should be no controls on food production. Farming today is farmer’s compulsion. Government should provide a suitable environment in promoting agriculture to food management. Government’s responsibility and focus should be more on cultivation, quality, value addition and availability.

Mr. Ramesh Gugle, Chairman cum Director says-

Government should play a major and prominent role in Indian agriculture, but again it should play an honest & committed role. As agriculture so far consider as a neglected sector the government should provide more importance in providing the basic infrastructures like roads, water, power & marketing chains to make a bridge between the producer & consumers.

No, Government should keenly monitor the production and it should not import from other countries since we are having our own sources in plenty and they have to give more subsidies to the farmers and poor farmers should be given more preference in claiming subsidies.

Mr. Vikram, MD, S R Infra says-

Both ways in administration part and R&D part government’s role should be increased. At the same time the role of brokers the government has to reduce. They have to employ an independent body that will be useful for farmers.

Mr. S. Jayakumar, Founder Pioneer Aquaculture Consultants says-

The government has to work at gross root level and they have to provide the basic needs to the farmers like good irrigation network. We got independence 6 decades ago, but we are still not able connect the rivers. On the one side river water is wasted by flowing directly to the sea and flooding causes huge economic losses and on the other side no water is available for agriculture. This is the ridiculous situation in India. The only option to avoid this situation is connecting all rivers to get good agricultural productivity.

Organic Farmer from Manipur - Mr. P. Khamsanglian says -

I am farmer from Manipur. I am having a purely organic fruit farm where I grow banana, pineapple, sweet lime, orange and lychee. I started this farm 2 years ago and since then I have already spent 16 lakhs in farming. Unfortunately, so far the government is not helping me. They just come and provide farmers the dinner and lunch. Government officials will feel happy with what I am doing they will recommend me and they get impressed with what I am doing but apart from that they are not helping in anyways. However as I am the person who is educated enough to know things , and everything we can find from the internet the funding from the center and the schemes that are sponsored by the central government and the state government but it is not given to us.

My aim in life is to become a rich farmer. I hope that within 2 -3 years I will achieve my aim. If I become a successful person with my own expense I can tell my people that without the help of government or any funding agencies from foreign you can start a farm and still be a rich guy, I try to encourage and I try to be a pioneer for that and to cultivate an entrepreneurship mind among the people.

Responsive government intervention is very essential without private interest. Government policy towards small scale business persons is good in letter but when we approach the banks for loans for expansion, we face a lot of problems.
