Hello,
1) i want to know if silver oak tree can be grown in dry lan (non hilly area), where in rain is only the source of water,
2) how many years will it take for harvesting ?
3) Do they need shade for growth? if yes which trees would you suggest?

Hi sir,

Silver oak plantations normaly will undertake in hilly area.In some place s the tea growers will plant in thieir estate for shading and landmark.By doing the mass cultivation in plain area the following spacing will be required thats 10'x10' or 12'12'.As per yield concern that the silver oak trees attain the age of five years the farmer will get Rs5250/-per tree. The silver oak tree will attain the age of 20 years the farmer will get Rs 8000-per tree.

Silver oak planrts dont need shade for growth. They are generally used as shade and standards in tea, pepper and coffee plantations.
If you are ready to grow other tree species , go in for teak, or melia dubia. YOu get good returns too.

Ashwini S
