REDUCING SOIL pH

Hello

I require the opinions of the expert members in agriculture information. I am intending to purchase an agriculture land [for vegetable production], and I have conducted soil tests ahead of that to evaluate the land. Th test have shown the soil to contain a very high pH value between 7.95 to 8.55.

I have the following queries from the members of this group

1. What vegetables can be grown on soils that have pH values between 8 to 8.5
2. Is it possible to bring down the pH values, If yes, how long would this take, and what measures does it involve

I shall appreciate receiving views of experts on this query of mine

Dear Sir

The pH can be lowered by using fertilizers containing ammonium-N .Ammonium sulfate and sulfur-coated urea.
gympsum is also recommended to lower the ph

First think, the pH of soil is not high. Who told you ? Yes you can take some precautions that is part if your cultural activities,some are mentioned by Kirtis.Apart, use of organic manure, continuous cropping, green manuring, selecting crop species and varieties that have moderate tolerance to higher pH are some of the strategies one can keep in mind.
