Exotic breeds like white Yorkshire, Hampshire and Landrace are the breeds maintained at farms. There are about 158 pig breeding farms in the country run by the State Governments.
Pig farming requires small investment on buildings and equipments.

Economics of pig farming as calculated by nabard-

cost for size of 10 sows and 1 boar would come upto 2 lacs. You can also contact the animal husbandry department.
