Dear All,

I am keen for cultivation of Mirabilis Jalapa (4'O clock flower) in our farm near Ahmedabad. Would like to know if anyone can share/support/guide me on this aspect.

hello Sir
Mirabilis jalapa is a PERENNIAL growing to 0.6 m (2ft) by 0.5 m (1ft 8in).
It is in flower from Jul to October, and the seeds ripen from Aug to October.
The flowers are hermaphrodite (have both male and female organs) and are pollinated by Insects.

Suitable for: light (sandy), medium (loamy) and heavy (clay) soils and prefers well-drained soil.
Suitable pH: acid, neutral and basic (alkaline) soils. It can grow in semi-shade (light woodland) or no shade.
It prefers moist soil.

Succeeds in almost any ordinary garden soil.
Prefers a fertile well-drained soil in full sun or part day shade.
This species is not very hardy in Britain.
The top growth is cut back by frost but the tuber survives the winter outdoors if the temperature does not fall much below -5°c,

Propagation:Seed -
When they are large enough to handle, prick the seedlings out into individual pots and plant them out in early summer, after the last expected frosts.
The seed remains viable for several years
