Malabary/Tellecherry goats are the native breed of Kerala. It has high resistivity power against deceases and climate variations. It is much popular in their chevron (meat is lean, tasty and has low fat and people liked it very much) and medicated milk. It is also very famous due to their reproductive capacity and yielding milk. It can give three deliveries in two years. 2 kids are very common and can give up to 5 kids in a delivery. 400gms to 1500gms of milk will be produced per day for 3 months. The weight of Buck (male goat) may be between 40 to 50kg and that of does (female goat) may be between 20 to 45kg
Advantages of Goat Farming
Low capital investment and high return.
Simple and low cost shed is enough.
Very profitable under stall fed condition.
50 Nos to 75 Nos of goats can be managed by a single person in stall fed condition.
Weight gain is between 100gms to 125gms per day. For cross breed with Jamnapari or Boer the weight gain is between 180gms to 230gms per day.
Can be sold and encashed at any time like gold.
