Flotation separation process is a method which separates materials based on their different physical and chemical properties of the minerals. It is not only used for sorting copper, zinc, lead, nickel, gold and other metals, but also used for rough selection of ferrous metals and non-metallic materials. Because of the materials to ber separated, flotation separation plant is also called copper flotation plant and lead zinc flotaion plant.
By the ore properties, the main carrier of silver mineral is galena mineral, a small amount distribute in sphalerite, therefore two plans to separate silver: differential flotation and mixed flotation.
1. Differential flotation separation process:
Adopting preferential flotation process can products for a variety of single concentrate respectively, all meet the industrial requirements. However, due to grinding fineness is thiner and go against to recovery zinc mineral, therefore, the recovery rate of zinc content is lower than mixed flotation process results.
2. Mixed flotation separation process:
Principles of process: sodium sulfide as mineral surface agent, sodium cyanide remove copper ions on the surface of the sphalerite, zinc sulfate as inhibitor, copper sulfate as an activator. The test results show that the lead concentrate and zinc concentrate in lead and zinc separation effect is poorer, two kinds of concentrate mixer content is higher, the lead concentrate contain silver, the silver recovery rate was 54.3%.
In comparison, the differential flotation process have early access to the qualified single concentrate, lead and zinc of two concentrate separation efficiency and recovery rate are high, the process should be as the first choice for beneficiation plant. Mixed flotation process can obtain high recovery rate of mixed silver, lead and zinc concentrate, but silver lead-zinc separation effect is poor, but mixed concentrate lead concentrate and zinc concentrate two products containing high grade to each other. Mixed flotation concentrate, therefore, should be dealt with by metallurgical process separation, silver, lead and zinc by flotation are not able to get qualified products with higher accuracy.
