Teak comes from a variety of regions and many scientists feel that certain regional elements contribute to the varying degrees of quality of plantation teak.* Another regional difference from plantation to plantation is the amount of time the wood is aged before cutting.* Prematurely logging teak results in inferior durability, appearance and strength.*
*
Southeast Asia boasts both natural teak forests and teak plantations.* Natural forests, found in Thailand, Burma (Myanmar), Malaysia, India, Indonesia, and Laos. produce high-quality, old teak with an oily surface and a coarse, golden brown surface.* Plantation teak is not as visually pleasing, not smooth to the touch, and is likelier to be harvested prematurely.* Indonesia, Laos, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and the Phillipines are Southeast Asian countries that house teak plantations.*
*
In Africa,* teak plantations are located in Benin, Cameroon, Ghana, Nigeria, Sudan, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.* These plantations produce inferior harvests when compared to natural growth environments and even some other plantation operations.* The wood is less durable and contains fewer natural oils which act as repellents and protectants.*
*
The Western Hemisphere contributes approximately .3% of teak production across the globe.* There are plantations on Fiji, New Guinea, Northern Australia, and the Solomon Islands.* The quality can be similar to that of Burma teak in areas that receive moderate rainfall, but, in areas with excessive rain or drought, the quality of teak wood diminishes significantly.*
*
In Central and South America, teak plantations have appeared in Brazil, the Caribbean, Costa Rica, Honduras, Panama, and Venezuela.* This region is plagued with sub-standard trade and employment practices.* As in the plantations of Southeast Asia, unfair labor practices, child labor, and inhumane working conditions are common.* The result is an inferior quality teak wood that is not desired on the global scene.

We are one and only high yielding tissue culture teak producers across the Globe.
