A) Cultivation Method for Rudraksha:-
1. Seed Germination:-
Soak seeds 48 hours, plant 2" deep in sand or mix and keep warm and damp, with bright light. Very slow germinating
(Ref:-Top Tropicals Botanical Garden / Wholesale and Retail Nursery / Punta Gorda - Florida - USA , TopTropicals.com - TopTropicals.com - rare plants for home and garden)
2.Planting the Saplings:-
Rudra Bhandar, started the promotion of holy Rudraksha tree for those who want to grow the tree in their home garden.
Although it does not require any special climatic condition to grow, it depends on the nature of soil and care during first few months of sprouting the seeds of Rudraksha.
After planting this holy tree around the house, it removes evil eye and sins of the housing environment. Because of its evergreen nature, it brings cool environment around the surrounding.
Rudraksha tree can be grown by soiling the special beads as well as by planting small plant directly.
When Rudraksha beads are soiled it takes around one year for it to sprout to a plant. Not all the beads that you are getting have the quality to sprout into plant, so to overcome this difficulty Rudra Bhandar supplies the healthy selected beads for planting.
Rudraksha can be grown in tropical and subtropical climatic condition.
During the few years when the plant just sprouted or when small plant is planted it requires very special care with daily watering to the plant, shelter from cold, direct sun light and from insect bites. After five to seven years, it starts giving rise to Rudraksha beads of different faces in the same tree.
The most usual causes of failures for growing Rudraksha tree is with quality of seed or sowing too deeply. Another common cause is watering. Seeds need a supply of moisture and air in the soil around them. Most seeds will of course only germinate between certain temperatures. These are the care to be taken for plantation of seeds of Rudraksha.
Rudra Bhandar supplies both the beads as well as small plant directly from their farming site. All the details for growing this holy tree are provided to the customer once they place order of either plant or beads of any quantity.*

Rudraksha farming is a difficult process due to the slow sprouting from the beads.
Depending on the humidity of the soil, it usually takes 1-2 years for a tree to sprout.
Rudraksha is grown in subtropical climatic regions with temperature ranges of 25-30 degree centigrade.
The tree starts giving fruit after 7 years and fruits for a long time after the 7-year period.
A single Rudraksha tree bears beads in all different faces or mukhis at the same time.
The higher mukhis or faces are very rare.
Most common Rudraksha bead is the five faceted or panchmukhi.
The environment and location of Rudraksha trees plays a major role in the bead formation and the type of bead formed. e.g: The Himalayan beads seem larger, heavier and more powerful due to the environment they grow in.

Details of Rudraksha cultivation are available on the following website:-
http://www.rudrakshanepal.com/plantation…
Few salient features of Rudraksha cultivation are as follows:-
Rudraksha Plantation Does not require any special climatic condition to grow.
It depends on the nature of soil and care during first few months of sprouting the seeds of Rudraksha.
Can be grown in tropical and subtropical climatic condition.
Failures for growing Rudraksha tree is with quality of seed or sowing too deeply.
Another common cause is watering.
Seeds need a supply of moisture and air in the soil around them.
Rudraksha seeds are extracted from the High quality Rudraksha nut shell to improvise the technique of fast growing of Rudraksha plant.
These seeds have germinating capacity of 99% within three months period.
These seed require high care during plantation and the procedure is mailed along with the rudraksha seed that you have ordered.

Method for fast germination of RIDRAKSHA SEEDS(Described by BY State Forest Research Institute, Dept. of Environment & Forests, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh, Itanagar – 791111).
Fresh seeds are treated with conc. HCL for10 min. & washed 4-5 times with tap water.
Then seeds are soaked in water for 24 hrs.
The pre-treated seeds are sown in shaded mother beds at a depth of 1 to 1.5 cm. vertically.
Germination is epigeal & starts after 25 days of sowing.
Young seedlings are pricked after flooding of mother bed at 2-3 leaves stage & transplanted under shade in polybags.
The polybags are kept under shade & watering is done as & when required.
Initial growth of seedings is slow, which afterwards become normal.
Seedlings become ready to plant in field after 6 months of germination or with the beginning of rainy season.
(Ref. Nursery Technique of local tree species-II by U. V. Singh, S.P. Ahalwat & N. S. Bisht, State Forest Research Institute, Dept. of Environment & Forests, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh, Itanagar – 791111).

TECHNIQUES FOR GERMINATING RUDRAKSHA SEEDS(ENDOCARPS)
Rudraksha seeds are soaked in tap water for 24 hours, and then water is drained out.
Pre-soaked seeds are sown vertically by keeping micropyle-end upward in shaded mother beds at a depth of 1.5 to 2.0 cm.
Germination is epigeal, starts after three weeks of sowing and continues up to 50 days when seedlings attain 3 leaves stage.
Juvenile seedlings are picked after flooding of mother bed and transplanted in polythene bags under shade.
Transplanted seedlings are kept in shaded mother bed.
Mother beds after sowing of seeds, and later on transplanted seedlings are watered daily or as per requirements during rainy season.
Seedlings become ready to plant in field after 8 months from transplanting in poly bags.
In an experiment conducted at State Forest Research Institute, Dept. of Environment & Forests, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh, Itanagar – 791111,
the clean seeds were treated with 0.5% and 1.0% KNO3 solution for 24 hours, washed thoroughly in water and then sown in tray.
Trays containing sand were kept in seed germinator maintained at 28 °C.
The germination commenced on 16th day of sowing with germination percentages recorded at the end of the test as 67% and 71% respectively.

RUDRAKSHA ECONOMICS
The economical importance of Rudraksha can be viewed on following websites:-
Rudraksha-the Panacea For All
Rudraksha Beads - For Health, Wealth & Spirituality
Rudraksha - The Ancient Indian Power Bead for Success, Self
Power Bead that Beats Failure and Gives Wealth, Health
Scientific and Astrological Significance of rudraksha
The cost of Rudraksha is determined by rarity.
The five-faced (pentameric ovary) Rudrakasha are very commonly found and therefore are cheaper(costing in few Rs.). The one-faced (monomeric ovary)variety of Rudrakasha are found rarely and therefore are very expensive(costing about Rs. one lakh). Rudraksha having 2,3,4,6,7, or 8 faces(ovaries) are also rare as compared to five-faced(pentameric ovary) Rudraksha. Therefore their price is more(few hundred Rs.) than the five-faced( pentameric ovary) Rudraksha.
Some Rudraksha can be bought off the streets for as little as Rs. 2 per bead while gem shops sell them for as high as Rs.40,000 per bead. An 'Indramala' garland made of rudraksha beads may cost as much as Rs. 5 million.
Millions of pea-sized beads are imported every year from Indonesia, the trade is said to be valued at Rs.3 billion.
The bigger coin-sized beads, from Elaeocarpus ganitrus species, are uncommon and are brought from neighbouring Nepal and the annual trade is worth Rs.2 billion.Online sales for rudraksha products to the West amounts to about $2,000 every day for each Indian company.
