Honey bee starter kit

Hello!! I am a doctor by profession.

My wife wants to start bee keeping on a "kitchen-garden" scale

We have collected good amount of info on the subject.

But I donot know how do I get myself the hives. And also the starter colonies. I have decided to start with three or four hives at first.

I have tried with the local Khadi ppl who have some type of scheme for this, but they were totally unsupportive.

We live in Assam.

Any inputs on this?? Anyone wants to sell used hives?? Starter colonies of apis cerena or melliferaa.

The best solution is to contact the KVK in your area. If you have friends in Coimbatore which is in Tamilnadu, please contact the TNAU guys. Their website is Apiculture :: Home

I give below the phone numbers of people who can give help on the materials needed for starting beekeeping. Josephine - 098655-55047. I saw her article in The Hindu sometime back and she produces huge amount of honey and she sells both the materials for bee keeping and she also buys back honey from the beekeepers.

Can you share the ebooks related to beekeeping?
