Respected sir/Madam

Sir, Turmeric prices are very high during these days compared to previous years. It is as high as 11,000/quintal dried turmeric compared to 3000/quintal. Sir, what would be the reason.... Some of the dealers argue that it is due to export agreement with United states for next 5 years.
Is this true, Can the farmer grow turmeric in large scale for the next 3-4 years expecting higher returns.... Waiting for your valuable replies.

Thanking you,

Dear sir,

some times onion/Tomato price goes up to Rs.28-30/kg then all farmers go for onion and tomato naturally next season price will not be more than Rs.4/kg and prices of other vegetables goes up, so we should not jump to the conclusion by looking into price when we plan any crop we should look how the particular crop price behaved over period of 3 to 4 yrs then decide sudden price may be due to fallowing reason.
1.Pest & disease problem end up in low yield or unabble to meet the demand.
2.Bad weather condition and low yields.
3.Less price in previous yr resulted in demotivation towards particular crop.
4.Unexpected demand (festival, marriage as u said export demand).
before going to cultivate u should plan what has to be grown that is called cropping pattern by looing into climate and local resource as u cant cultivate banana or coconut in kashmir similerly apple. always turmering plays very good role since u can store the material u can play with price.
