Desmanthes virgatus has a number of common names such as `hedge Lucerne' in India, and originates from Argentina.
The hedge lucerne meal was made from leaves and small branches harvested
from hedge-rows of the hedge lucerne tree, then dried and ground to a coarse powder.
Hedge Lucerne is a commonly used as green fodder, it can also be used as dry fodder. It is fodder for Cattle, Sheeps, Goats and Rabbits. Hedge Lucerne is high in protein. It helps in yielding high fat content in milk.
We have extensively cultivated Hedge Lucerne in our farm and we have not
used any fertilizers and pesticides in our farm.
