First of all, this article was written by a former Monsanto employee so, grains of salt and all that. Ok so yes as the dissertation expert at https://dissertationwriter.org/buy-dissertation/ I admit most of the food grown in the United States is grown from "family farms" but the system doesn't work the way most people understand it. On most large family farms the family has owned the land for generations and is the caretakers of that land. They own the buildings, the roads, and especially the debt, but NOT the animals. In the case of chickens and other poultry, a company like Smithfield or Tyson owns the animals and delivers the chicks to the farm, then they are raised under the keep of the family farmer and when those pullets (young hens) are old enough, they are picked up and taken to slaughter. So then Tyson can decide exactly how much each chicken should cost because the are both the supplier and the buyer. This leads to many farmers being in extreme debt barely able to take care of themselves because they can never negotiate a good price in relation to their expenses. And their expenses usually go up about 10-15% every year on average because the government legislates better food safety conditions which cost more money in equipment which is paid for by, you guessed it, the farmers and not the company who actually owns the animals.
Also, Monsanto holds patents on their GMO corn which they use to sue the pants off of any farmer who inevitably ends up with some Monsanto corn growing in their fields because corn migrates throughout whatever region its and WILL sprout in another farmers field. I won't even get into Round-Up and all that nonsense, but yeah this article is meant to convince people who don't know much about farming that everything is fine and there is no need to worry. There is, in fact, a reason to worry and everyone should learn as much as they can about America's food sources because of its the one thing that unifies the entire nation.
