Expertise needed for Banana

Hi all,
cud anyone tell me if the main flower [red bulb] on the Banana bunch needs to be nipped nearing harvest.
My banana crop is close to 20 days harvest about 1500 bunches of the [Yellaki variety].
This is my first stint at growing Bananas I need an expert opinion as my fellow horticulturist tell me it needs to be destryed to increase the size of the fruit.
Is this for real? ora scientific method plz. help me.
