Question Definition of farming from government perspective?

Dear Friends,

When somebody purchases an agriculture land, the expectation is the owner should use the same for agriculture purposes only.
But I am confused as to what exactly fits the definition of farming/cultivation/agriculture from a government perspective.

I am planning to buy a small agriculture land (in Karnataka) and I am considering following options.
Could someone guide as to which one of these are valid and allowed by government?
Also, are the rules different when buying cultivated vs uncultivated land?
  1. Permaculture or Natural farming
  2. Sheep/chicken/fish farming
  3. Certified organic farming
  4. Purely timber farming like teamwood, sandalwood etc
  5. Fruit crops like Mango, others
Thanks as always in anticipation :)

Regards,
Abhi.
