Dear Nisha Choudhary ,
your question is very specific as per the size of Dairy sector ..In my opinion , the basic facilities means the Super Goal with land , finance , management , market , planning and support , disease and preservation , manpower availability , dairy automation , own feed mill plus huge crops and fodder land .. Low cost technology with complete mechanisation etc.etc. you can estimate on Thumb rule basis the herd category on subdivisions as ::
Herd Category ==> Advance Pregnant on milch stage / freshly Calved / Dry
Advance Pregnant / Pregnant F1 Farm bred Heifer / Peak Milch &
Pregnant Herd , etc.
If your above mentioned Herd category sizes are 100 nos. / herd , then on the basis of Herd structure should not be less than 81% - 87% with milking animals ..The standard %age of Milking Herd must set as approx. 85 % on an average and fully depends on efficient management practices .. for more discussions , plz contact -- Dr Dev Sarkar ,
