biochar vs charcoal

Hi,
Can I use regular grade charcoal - used in brick kilns - as biochar. Will it give the same results in improving the soil condition.
Your answers would be appreciated.

Biochar is prepared by pyrolysis of biomass. Do you want to use charcoal as it is??/

Yes, is it harmful using charcoal directly ? I am assuming here that all or most of charcoal is made from biomass.

Hi all

Found this link. It is informative and seems to suggest it is Ok to use crushed charcoal mixed with soil as Biochar. For those of you who may be interested.
