Adiantum venustum : A very hardy and beautiful Maidenhair fern, slowly creeping to form a patch of delicate fronds. New fronds emerge pink early in the spring. Ht 30cm. Very tough, in dry-ish or moist humusy soil in semi-shade.
Medicinal use of Adiantum venustum: The fronds are astringent, diuretic, emetic, emmenagogue, expectorant, resolvent and tonic They are used in the treatment of headaches and scorpion stings. A paste made from the rhizomes is used in Himalayan to treat cuts and wounds.
