Sir, Is it advisable to transport animals from Maharashtra to Jaipur keeping in mind the differnce in temperature ?? I mean Jaipur is super hot and maharshtra will be pleasant .. won't the animals take the change in weather badly specially after a long train journey .

just curious ..

Sir, YES , It is very much possible to transport animals from Maharashtra to Jaipur in spite of the Temperature difference. The animals tend to get used to the fluctuations over a period of time.

You will agree with me that HF breed is from a country which had minimum temperature however after crossing it with local breeds we have got crosses which are now well acclimatized with the temperatures in India.

In Maharashtra we are getting good quality buffaloes from Punjab & Haryana; both the states are pleasant whereas Maharashtra is comparatively HOT.
Usually buffaloes are transported by Trains.

Sir, I agree that one can transport them between the above two mentioned places but what I meant was that would it be ok to transport them at this time of the year ? Oct - Mar is understandable as the temps in the 2 destinations are almost similar so we may not see much of a problem but in summers the heat stress might coz them to lose their original milking capacity .

And how would you recomend transporting cows from Maharashtra to Delhi .. Train or trucks ?? Also roughly whtas the price range that one can expect in that region , for eg - ho wuch would a cow with a yield of 25 ltrs cost ???

Cheers

Sir, A simple solution would be: when you are Transporting in months of Heat, it would be better to buy cows which are dry Pregnant which will then come to your Shed & deliver. We need not fear the loss of milk due to heat stress.

Transport depends upon convenience of the buyer & seller. It would be a better option to visit the places wherein you get good cows; the people therein will be able to suggest the best possible means for Transport. The price range will be from 30-45,000 approximately. My contacts will be in a better position to give you the exact figures. Please do visit Maharashtra & SEE.
