Sir,
I have observed that you promote growing Teak. We have a situation, we have 13 years old teak trees with dia of 6-11 inches. We decided to cut them and put the land to other uses and now find that there is not a single dealer of timber in and around Chennai who would be interested in buying this Teak, because they are getting better quality and cheaper teak from Burma.
So how do you suggest we get over this uncertainty of planting some trees and hoping they will fetch decent returns 20-30 years down the line when such global trades can upset all calculations.
Further we have been cautioned that we cannot even cut these trees without Forest depts. approval ??
So guide us as to how we can benefit from teak plantations?
