The coolest climate of India present unique opportunity for strawberry production.Daily low temperature must average below 16 degree C for strawberry plants to bloom and bear fruit. As traditional strawberry production wanes in April due to hot weather and extended day length , production with day neutral varieties in cool climates of North east India, Kerala and Tamilnadu can enjoy a market with little or no competition.

To take advantage of the market opening for strawberry fruit sales from June through October the ideal planting date is February. Recall that these plants are not fresh chilled nor green plants as fruit growers propagate themselves, these are fully dormant plants. They will take a full 4 to 6 months to come into production. If the plants are not planted soon, you will miss part of the window of highest prices. Although dormant plants do take a longer period of time to come into production, with great storage of carbohydrates, they are well equipped for the long production cycle offered by day neutral production as opposed to the short spurt of production targeted by the growers in Maharashtra.

We recommend on following requirements:-

Quality Plants
Modern varieties
Protection from Rain
Plastic culture

The planting materials for this concept is imported from California , USA .If you are interested for Out of season strawberry production contact us through our website Abonna Plants Pvt Ltd. or email me at dipen@abonnaplants.com
