Fruit Fly Sex Pheromone Traps

Crops which can be used: Mango, Guava, Caustard apple etc..
Advantage:
• Fruit flies cause 20 -50% loss to crops-can be saved
• Fruit flies infestation led to rejection in export consignments- can be reduced
• Eco friendly- no pesticide
• Cost effective- About 500-600 rs/acre
• No labour requirement to install
Mode of action:
• A sex pheromone trap attract male flies thus check the multiplication in field
• About 6 to 8 traps/ acre
Stage of use:
• Once plants starts setting fruits (pea size nuts)
How to use:
• About 6 to 8 traps/ acre
• Traps are installed to mango trees at the height of 5ft from ground
• Lure (pheromone applied on wood piece) can be changed once in 3-4 week
• About 4 lures are required for one season
• In trap we can apply any insecticide to kill traped flies
• Once trap is filled with flies which can be burned away from orchard
Cost of traps:
• Trap RS-30
• Lure Rs-15 (4*15=60)
• Total -80 / unit
