Hi
We have cows giving 10 lts to cows giving 35 lts.

Total cost breakup is as follows

For one of our cow giving 20 lts
1. Green fodder 40 kgs @ Rs. 1.20 / kg = Rs. 48
2. Dry fodder 5 kg @ Rs. 3 / kg = Rs. 15
3. Concentrates 10kg @ Rs. 13 / kg = Rs. 130
4. Labour 2 nos @ Rs. 120 /day = Rs.240 divided over 15 cows = Rs. 16 / cow
Total = 48 + 15 + 130 + 16 = Rs. 209

Milk obtained 20 lts @ Rs. 21 / lt = Rs. 420

Difference = 420 - 209 = Rs. 211 (approx. 50% profit) When we remove expenses for dry cows, calves and medical costs etc. , you can make about 30% profit. Profit can be higher if you grow your own fodder where fodder cost can be reduced to Rs. 0.5 / kg.

Hope this helps. You can send me PM, I will give you my email Id and then we can address other concerns over email.

Good luck.

Nikhil

Hi Nikhil,
I am joining this querries which you raised in 2009. Can you tell me what is the conclusion on this issue.

I am from Gujarat and we are also facing problem of high cost for dry fodder. I do not want to give dry fodder or atleast minimize the qty of dry fodder. Instead, I can give green fodder as more qty.

Required FC will also given.

Can you please suggest me your experiment is successful to give only green fodder + FC?

Awaiting for your reply.
