An aloe vera plant is an easy to grow succulent plant with spikes for leaves
Being of a tropical origin heat is important to the success of an aloe vera plant. In the tropics they are grown freely outdoors but they are also grown in U.K. type climates. They will not tolerate frost so if a plant is to be grown outside in a frost suspect area ensure that the plant can be brought inside to room temperature or can be placed in a heated glass-house.
Aloe vera plants like plenty of sunlight. In an indoor situation direct sunlight should be avoided as the leaves may become scorched. In this position rotate the plant regularly.
Plant in a good drainage soil.Pruning is not necessary. Lower leaves which have become dry, crinkled and brown can be cut away with a sharp knife.
