Default NDRI trains dairy entrepreneurs

NATIONAL DAIRY RESEARCH INSTITUTE
KARNAL (HARYANA)
Dated: 30.4.2007

The National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI) located here has trained 100 dairy entrepreneurs in five different groups for different districts of Assam State on Scientific Dairy Farming. These training programmes were sponsored by State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD) Assam.

Presiding over the valedictory function of the fifth training programme that concluded here today at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) and Dairy Training Centre (DTC) of the National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI) Dr. Sushil Kumar, Director said that there is an immense potential of increasing income and employment through Scientific Dairy Farming in the Assam State and 100 entrepreneurs trained in different batches should act as the dairy extension functionaries in their districts of Assam.

Dr. Kumar was highly concerned about the low per capita consumption of the milk in the state which was around 80 gms per person in the year 2005. He added that the technology of Artificial Insemination that was essentially required for breed improvement of the dairy animals was found very low which need be attended by the concerned departments of Assam.

Sh. K.K. Mittal, IAS, Commissioner and Secretary of the Govt. of Assam in the valedictory function stressed that NDRI should further take up imparting integrated training programmes to the entrepreneurs of Assam State which they will sponsor in the coming years. Sh. Mittal interacted with this batch of trainees and found the training highly successful.

Sh. K. Kalita, Director, SIRD, Assam in his address said that their institute will sponsor for imparting training to 200 entrepreneurs in coming times. He added that NDRI should also initiate some collaborative research studies for improving dairy scenario in Assam state.

Dr. Dalip K. Gosain, programme coordinator of KVK and DTC said that the entrepreneurs were not merely trained as dairy entrepreneurs or dairy farmers but were trained keeping in view their needs and also that they may act as dairy extension functionary in their state. Dr. R.Dheka from SIRD Assam and Dr. satyapal were present on the occasion

A very good piece of information.
My name is Ganga and I am panning a small Dairy farm with 200 cows in south of Tamil Nadu. I would like one of my Manager to be trained as dairy entrepreneur. What is your suggestion? Is there a training center in South?
Could you please help me with more infroamtion.
