Tanflora to ship one million rose stems every month
Hindu 26-Sep-07 Hosur: Horticulture has given drought-prone and economically and socially backward Krishnagiri an identity in the international market. Tanflora Floriculture Park at Amudhagondapalli near here is all set to showcase its blooming cut flowers of myriad hues at an international flower show to be held in Japan. Tanflora will be displaying 10 exotic varieties of cut roses during ISEX 2007 flower exhibition to be held from October 11 to 13 in Tokyo. ISEX 2007 is expected to attract more than 200 major buyers and auction centres from across the world. Tanflora has taken a stall and invited major buyers and auction centres for a fruitful marketing arrangement. The average production at the floriculture park at Amudhagondapalli has crossed one lakh mark a day. Tanflora is planning to ship one million rose stems every month to Japanese markets. It has extensively studied the market demand in the Japanese floriculture industry in the next 10 years and cultivated varieties which are in high demand there. Leading varieties such as Red Giant, Red Carvette, Passion, Avalanche, Gold Strike, Discovery, Apricot and Red Horizon will be displayed at the flower show. The flower show is only an attempt to capture a share in the global floriculture market. Tanflora is gearing up to enter the bouquet division and distribute cut flowers directly to super markets in Japan and Europe this Christmas. It expects to export more than four million rose stems for the Valentines Day next year. It is in the process of enlisting major auction centres in London, Japan and Germany. Talks are on with major breeders to get exclusive rights for some varieties of cut roses. Olij Rojen, a Dutch breeder, has already offered to name a rose variety as Taj Mahal, sources said. |
