Jatropha Oil is mainly used for making biodiesel because it is very easy to grow and fruitful for 40/50 years. It is a non-edible oil and posion.
In fact, many kinds of vegetable oils can use for biod making, such as rapeseed oil, palm oil and soybean oil, etc.. And generally, for all these vegetable oils require only one straight process will do. It does not like Jatropha Oil, as if use Jatropha Oil, we have to make it in two processes for a better yield, i.e. 92% or otherwise not more than 85%. So if we could calculate, we all know the price of Jatropha Oil per MT will not be higher than any other kinds of vegetable oils. We have received many suppliers offer claiming that they can supply. But when we will instruct our logistics service provider to collect goods from them, they all disappear. So it is difficult to say how much per MT at this time, unless some one stand out to provide proof that he has purchased at what price, alternatively real supplier stand out to confirm the offer. |

Im an not sure what you mean when u say - "And generally, for all these vegetable oils require only one straight process will do. It does not like Jatropha Oil, as if use Jatropha Oil, we have to make it in two processes for a better yield, i.e. 92% or otherwise not more than 85%."
Could you please elaborate this for me? |

Do you know how much is it for one MT of mineral diesel in the market? In UK, it is about one thousand pounds. In our place, it is not more than twelve hundred US dollars. Then if your price is USD3200/mt, who can afford to buy from you?
I have no idea of how much for Palm Oil, Rapeseed Oil and Canola Oil. Is there anyone who knows the market price. Please advise and thanks. |

Dear Sir, You are absolutely correct. When you ask for either jatropha seeds or jatropha oil, they all claim they have it against very sharp pricing. But you have to send the purchase price by Western Union. It is a dangerous situation and one has to really be careful.
We now have opted to set up our own plantations and are about to start up the first one in a West African country, to be followed by another one and later one in East Africa. However, we have real good sources in India and the prices of jatropha seeds are now around US$ 1,000 to 1,100 per MT. We can make you an offer for 1,200 MT jatropha seed (available immediately) for US$ 675/MT (Oil content 30-35%). Best regards, Max Last edited by Ritika : 01-16-2008 at 10:25 AM. In India, particularly in Indian Railways and more patricularly in Southern Railway Locomotive Workshop at Chennai city, they are having a mini plant for producing BioDiesel Oil from Jatropha Seeds, Pungam Seeds and used vegetable oils. Their cost per litre is Rs. 33 INR, that is to say Rs. 33,000 per Metric Ton/Kilo Litre (US$840 per MT/KL). The Railways are the highly salaried corporate organised sector. But, in small scale industry, they can make the BioDiesel oil Rs.26 to Rs. 30 in India. Then how could it be possible for an Indian Importer for importing BioDiesel for 1000 to 1100 USD per MT. It so, it is a total suicide!!! Aware, Indian produced BioDiesel are cheaper and better than those produced in Western/American countries.

You mean a small pilot plant that is being talked since four years? Can you prove that its possible to make Biodiesel out of Jatropha or Poongamia oil less than Rs45/liter. Can you establish with foolproof that Railways could produce Biodiesel for Rs33/liter???? You please show some proof that the cost of Jatropha oil or Poongamia oil available at Rs33/liter anywhere in India first!!!! Then what is that special process that enables Railways to make Biodiesel considering the cost of not only the above oils but also the involvement of an alcohol and little amount of catalyst. can you ask the railways to show a break-up of the cost honestly? Please correct your submissions or else prove your submissions right forthwith to substantiate your claim on the impossible cost of Biodiesel based on Jatropha or Poongamia oil in India. I challenge! Its never or ever possible to trace Jatropha oil first! Then the so called Poongamia which is always more than Rs30/kg ever since few people started advocating it in this subject. Iam not going to leave this issue casually! I need a convincing answer. Bhadrinath. |
