Mr. Sai Krishna on "How breeding is done for oil quality in mustard"

Mr. Sai Krishna is Jr. Breeder at Mangal Murthi Seeds at East Godavari District in Andhra Pradesh. Mustard oil is intensely concentrated with anti-nutritional components like erucic acid and glucosinolates that makes the oil inedible for human consumption. Breeding is done to reduce the contents of these fatty acids and make the oil more suitable with health beneficial for human consumption. We will see how research scientists have identified the low erucic content genotypes and made crosses to release the high yielding double zero mustard hybrids.
