Mr. Chetan Gore is the Managing Director of Urjit Biotech Pvt. Ltd. in Sangli, Maharashtra. He is passionate about farming for long and actually started it in 2005 -06. Mr. Chetan Gore says they only had land ( 8 acer ) at place called Belanki, in Miraj Taluka of Sangli District which is 40 km away from his house. It was a barren land, hard murum area and always with scarcity of water but still he started development and did plantation there. Now they have 1500 custard apple orchids of Balanagar variety, 550 Kesar mangoes and 1 acre grape yard. Later Mr. Chetan Gore realised that only producing best quality fruits is not enough but it need to be sold at better rates. Hence they developed a brand name Organic Village and sold mangoes. He says in agriculture, we can see short term benefits due to excessive uses of chemical fertiliser but this result into long-term threats in the form of salinity of land and hence sustainable farming is required. Urjit Biotech Pvt Ltd. produces organic bio-fertilisers in liquid and solid form for farmers.
